“There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.”” 1 Cor. 6:16 MSG From the very beginning, God made sexand sexual acts for the purposes of pleasure and reproduction. Sex is God’sidea! It goes beyond the physical. It is a soulish experience as well as spiritual. God never intended sexual intercourse to be a free for all act. God detested free for all sex. Sex as God intended it is for pleasure and reproduction between a husband and his wife.
Sexual acts before marriage is termed fornication while the same acts after marriage is termed adultery. God hates both fornication and adultery. The marriage bed must not be defiled by either of this. He made this clear through Apostle Paul in Heb 13:4 “Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against casual andillicit sex.” (MSG)
We live in the world where sex iseverything…in fact sex sales. If you are involved in any entertainment and sex is not embedded in it, it will not be attractive to the public. The public maybe attracted alright but the question is. “Is God attracted by it?” No! Instead God draws a firm line against sexual and illicit sex.
What about sexual promiscuity? God frowns seriously against this and He takes firm stand against it. God through Paul again cautions, “We must not be sexually promiscuous-they paid for that, remember, with twenty-three thousand deaths in one day!” 1 Cor. 10:8 Folks this is serious! 23,000 people dropping dead in one day because of this stuff? It’s time to begin to take this a lot more seriously. In our days we have seen so many lives claimed by sexually transmitted diseases than ever before.
The reason why there is such a grave consequence on illicit and casual sex is because sex is not just mere skin on skin relationship, it goes way beyond that. You are joined together in soul and spirit with whoever you have sex with. If you have sex with your spouse you are joined as one which is God’s design but If you have sex with an harlot thebible says, you are one with her also. “There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for”becoming one” with another.” 1 Cor. 6:18 MSG
(You may ask, “What do I do since I have been trapped by this sin?” “Is all hopes lost?” The answer is, “There is hope.” Watch out for Part 2 of this series.)
