In Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” Everything God made in the beginning was good.  Man was made complete and good.  The only thing ‘not good’ about man was his ‘aloneness’. The man Adam, did not even notice that something was really ‘not good’ about him. He never complained to God for anything because all things were provided for him. But his Maker knew that something was ‘not good’ about Adam.

God decided to make a helper comparable/suitable for man. Notice that God did not just call her into being…He made her the same way He made Him…in God’s image but from the man’s rib. So that she will have a connection to both God and man. According to the dictionary definition, a helper is a person or thing that helps or gives assistance, support, and so on. So wives, you are not coming to complete your husband because he has been made complete by His Maker but you are coming to aid, support and complement him…this is your job description. For you to aid, assist and support, it presupposes that there is a project at hand. All you do is align yourself to that project and help to finish it.

The word “comparable” in that scripture means capable of being compared; having features in common with something else to permit or suggest comparison or equality. In Genesis 2:21-23, the bile reads; “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place.  Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.  And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.””

That is why the bible says in Proverbs 18:22, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the Lord.” Wife, you are the “good thing” that happened to your husband!! Man if you want favor from God, accept your wife as the “good thing” that God provided for you which you found. Wife, doing your husband good all the days of your life…that’s your job description. (Prov. 30:12 She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.)

God did not just call woman into being…He made her the same way He made Him…in God’s image but from the man’s rib. So that she will have a connection to both God and man. Your good works will praise you in the gates don’t despair. Go about your task without complain, the one who brought you to help has your handsome reward set up for you. Remember that the one who hired you for this job is the same one who thought to make you. Your maker had your job description in mind before He made you so you are capable.

Wife, do you realize that you share the same job description with the Holy Spirit…helper… that is why you are involved in a multi faceted role requiring you to wear many hats.God loves a diligent wife. Realized that in order for a wife to be diligent, she must seek God for strength. The Virtuous Woman did so much and not once did the passage say that she complained. That is so amazing. How many times do we complain of being tired? She did what she needed to do with grace. What a beauty! Prov. 30:10-31
